Worlds Greatest Athlete

“If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.”

- Ecclesiastes 10:10

The Ultimate Test of Athleticism

World’s Greatest Athlete is on a mission to discover the best all-around athletes on the planet. Through a series of dynamic, high-level challenges, we push the limits of human performance. We evaluate competitors across multiple domains of physical ability to determine who reigns supreme in athleticism.

What We Test

We assess athletes based on the following test areas:

  • Max Strength – The ability to generate maximal force (Power lifting, Strongman, Highland Games, etc.).

  • Explosive Power – The ability to generate force quickly (Olympic weightlifting, track and field jumps/throws, basketball, etc.).

  • Speed – Acceleration and top-end velocity (Football, track and field, rugby, etc.).

  • Endurance – Sustained aerobic capacity (Distance running, cycling, rowing, etc.).

  • Stamina – The ability to sustain high intensity efforts (Track and field middle distance, rowing middle distance, swimming middle distance, etc.).

  • Agility & Quickness – Rapid change of direction and reaction time (Soccer, lacrosse, tennis, etc.).

  • Skill & Coordination – Precision and control in complex movements (Baseball, skateboarding, archery, etc.).

  • Work Capacity – The ability to sustain output across multiple energy systems (CrossFit).

  • Muscular Stamina – The ability of a muscle or muscle group to sustain high-intensity efforts or exert force repeatedly over a short-to-moderate duration. (Ninja warrior, MMA, gymnastics, etc.).

  • Muscular Endurance – The ability of a muscle or muscle group to sustain submaximal contractions over a prolonged period without fatigue. (Climbing, Hyrox, Spartan, etc.).

Each test and training day incorporates a sport-specific focus to enhance both performance and engagement. For example, a stamina test may center around an 800m run, drawing from track and field. This approach allows athletes to embody the mindset and movement of different sports throughout the program, making each session more memorable, motivating, and enjoyable—whether you're training or competing.

The Training Program

The World’s Greatest Athlete training system is designed to improve every aspect of athleticism by focusing on a different area each training day. Each session begins with a sport specific test to assess your current ability, followed by targeted training to improve performance in that area.

Fitness vs. Athleticism: Two Paths to Dominance

World’s Fittest Individual (Fitness Focus)

Tests overall work capacity across multiple energy systems.

  • Emphasizes: Endurance, stamina, strength, and metabolic efficiency over long durations.

  • Key Traits: Aerobic capacity, sustained output under fatigue, muscular endurance.

  • Events: Often involve multi-modal fitness challenges, combining strength and endurance elements.

  • Athlete Type: Aerobic-dominant (Type I & IIA muscle fibers), shorter athletes often excel.

  • Best Training Approach: CrossFit-style mix-modal training.

    • If you are trying to be as healthy and fit as possible, want to be able to tackle everyday tasks well, training for a sport that requires high work capacity (MMA, soccer, rugby, triathlon) and/or enjoy more stamina/aerobic work, CrossFit is the best option.

World’s Most Athletic Individual (Athleticism Focus)

Tests versatility, adaptability, and explosive ability across multiple movement patterns.

  • Emphasizes: Power, speed, agility, coordination, and accuracy.

  • Key Traits: Explosive movement, rapid reaction, high movement efficiency.

  • Events: Sport-specific drills and events, sprints, jumps, change-of-direction tests.

  • Athlete Type: Power-dominant (Type II muscle fibers), taller athletes with low body fat often excel.

  • Best Training Approach: Singular-movement training focusing on power and skill-based movements.

    • If you excel in shorter effort workouts, do well with dynamic movements, training for a power sport (football, baseball, track and field sprints/jumps/throws, golf) and/or enjoy a wide variety of sports, World Greatest Athlete is for you.

Key Difference: Capacity vs. Capability

  • Fitness measures capacity – How much work can be sustained over time.

  • Athleticism measures capability – How well an individual moves, reacts, and applies force in various environments.

  • The fittest individual may dominate endurance-based challenges, while the most athletic individual thrives in speed, power, and skill-based tests.

Are You Ready to Compete?

Every challenge is designed to test your abilities in ways you never expected. From explosive workouts to precision-based drills, this is your chance to prove your athleticism, break limits, and rise to the top.
